Siddal scare Miners
3/31/2008
A last minute conversion from Martin Ridyard saved Leigh Miners from defeat in a tremendous contest in atrocious conditions
Leading 0-4 at half-time Miners would have been odds-on favourites to go on and finish the job started against Siddal on Saturday. However a sprited fightback by the home side saw them take a 14-8 lead with less than ten minutes remaining. Honours were shared when a last minute try and touch-line conversion saw them draw level and for the second week in succession take a share of the spoils that, maybe, they didn't deserve.
But East Hull will press Miners all the way this season closing in on them with a 6-28 beating of the relegated Dragons. they are now 2 points behind Miners with a game in hand.
Leigh East will probably run out of games before they can secure enough points for a top-two finish. They moved into third place with a 2-34 defeat of Thornhill Trojans. Skirlaugh have two games in hand on Easts, and have the same number of points.
In the other NCL Premier League game Wigan St.Patricks beat Oulton Raiders 2-9, and both should finish comfortably in mid-table.
In Division One Wigan St.Judes are still top dogs even though they only have 3 games to play any 3 from the top 8 can still be promoted.
In Division Two Normanton are 4 points clear of Millom, who have two games in hand.
