Siddal are NCL Champs for 2009

Siddal Amateur Rugby League Club are the National Conference League Premiership Champions for the 2008-09 season !

The club has set the standard both on and off the pitch this season, and are well-deserved Champions for the 2008-09 season. They have produced excellent performances against quality opposition all year, and by finishing as Minor Premiers have shown that they are the most consistent team of the season.

However, they didn't have it all their own way, being beaten 24-4 in the Qualifying Semi-final two weeks ago by East Hull must have sown some seeds of doubt in all but the hardiest of fans. But on Saturday their defensive game saw them avenge that defeat in a 15-8 victory over the Humberside Club.

Tries from Luke Simeunovich and Steven Hope, three goals from Brad Attwood and a Lee Gudor drop-goal ten minutes from time were enough points on the board, whilst Easts could only respond with two tries from Tommy Brett and Mike Blanchard. The rest was down to that tackling game which disowned them two weeks ago.

The National Conference league will be back in August for the 2009-10 season.
