Saint Patricks lead by a point

9/4/2007

Wigan St. Patricks are the only NCL team with a 100% record and stand top of the Premier League pile. Newly promoted Castleford Panthers were beaten by Hull Dockers, and slip to 5th.

Pats defeated the Dragons 34-20, whilst Skirlaugh kept up the pressure by beating Siddal at Chevinedge. The never-say-die attitude of Leigh Miners pulled them through a tight encounter against Oulton, winning out by 30-28 in the final minutes, whilst Thornhill went to Humberside and won a tricky encounter against Easts by 28-14. The Trojans are now third in the table.

Leigh East and Castleford Panthers are undoubtedly the surprise teams this season - both teams have 3 wins from 4 games and sit inside the play-off places. At the bottom West Bowling are pointless and favourites to finish with the wooden spoon after they were beaten 28-26 by other relegation favourites Rochdale Mayfield. West Hull are also, surprisingly in the bottom three with only that opening day win over Oulton to their credit.

In the First Division matches Wigan St. Judes began their push for a return to the Premier League with a 38-6 win over relegated Shaw Cross Sharks.
Whilst in Division Two newly-elected Stanley Rangers got off to a great start with a 20-18 win over Ovenden.
