Premier League Alive And Well

1/14/2008

Of the seven games in the NCL Premier League over the weekend, two ended in draws whilst another two saw a final difference of just two points.

East Hull and Siddal shared the spoils at Rosemead with Easts scoring a try with 2 minutes to go and debutant winger Craig Skelton kicking from the touchline to earn a point.

Whilst, across the city West Hull scored a 79th minute try to draw level with Mayfield at 16-16, but failed to kick the conversion that would have won them the game.

Skirlaugh pipped St. Pats 14-16. and Thornhill Trojans threw away a 20 point lead to lose 20-22 to Hull Dockers.

In the other games, Eastmoor Dragons were hammered 78-14 by Leigh Miners and are all but relegated now - they need to win all their remaining games and hope that Castleford Panthers lose all theirs.
The Panthers lost 16-34 to Leigh East, and West Bowling were beaten 20-36 by Oulton Raiders.

All these results indicate that any team can take points off any other in this tight division, and the next few weeks should see some interesting fixtures.

In Division One Saddleworth Rangers claim top spot alone as York Acorn didn't play, and in Division Two its still Normanton Knights on top.

Next week sees a break due to the National Cup 2nd Round.
