Wigan St. Patricks kept their 100% record in the NCL Premier League with a sixty point thrashing of West Bowling over the weekend.Skirlaugh and Leigh East kept up the pressure, with a clutch of teams not far behind.
Andy Parker came off the St. Patricks bench to score four second-half tries as Bowling conceded 13 tries in their 68-16 defeat of the Premier League pace-setters. Skirlaugh kept up their undefeated record too, winning a difficult game away at Thornhill Trojans. But the surprise package of the season, newly-promoted Leigh East defeated Hull Dockers by 46-8, and are now breathing down the necks of second-placed Skirlaugh. On Humberside East Hull gained revenge for their end-of-last-season humiliation in May (when they lost 59-8 in the Minor Final) by defeating Leigh Miners 36-12 at Rosmead. Both teams have struggled to hit top form this season but should not be written off at such an early stage of the season. In the other Premier League games, West Hull beat the Castleford Panthers 42-10, Oulton Raiders overcame Siddal by 25-10, and Rochdale Mayfield scored nine tries in defeating Eastmoor Dragons by 54-14.In the First Division Bradford Dudley Hill, York Acorn and Wath Brow Hornets kept up their 100% records,And in Division Two newly-elected Stanley Rangers had a another great win. They are joined in the top 3 by Millom and Normanton Knights.
