Miners matched by chasing pack

3/18/2007

Leigh Miners kept one step ahead of the chasing pack in the Premier League of the NCL with a 33-22 win over Siddal on Saturday. But they were matched all the way by the four Humberside clubs who all won to keep up the pressure at the top of the league.

West Hull, Skirlaugh, Dockers and East Hull all overcame tricky opposition to secure their two points and keep the pressure on the Miners. Their wins over Thornhill, Eastmoor, Shaw Cross and Wigan St. Patricks showed how tight the Premier League is this season.

In the GMB National Cup there were wins for Waterhead over Oulton Raiders (13-2) and Saddleworth Rangers over Hull Isberg (18-13). Next weekend sees the GMB Cup Quarter Finals scheduled with only 3 NCL Premier League clubs having made it so far. The pick of the round is the humberside derby between East and West Hull.
