Leigh Miners are minor premiers
4/15/2007
Leigh Miners took the NCL Premier League minor premiership with a 44-14 win over relegated Shaw Cross Sharks. The match was much closer than the final scoreline indicated, and it was only 4 tries in the last 15 minutes that the Sharks couldn't respond to that made it look so easy.
In the days other matches Skirlaugh sounded out a warning to the Miners with a 33-10 victory over Thornhill, and all four Humberside teams will make the play-offs this season, with Wigan St. Patricks favourites to finalise the six ahead of Oulton next weekend.
At the bottom Wath Brow Hornets, Shaw Cross Sharks and Oldham St. Annes will all be playing Division One rugby league next season whilst Rochdale Mayfield and Castleford Panthers will be joined by Leigh East after Wigan St.Judes were beaten by Widnes St. Maries.
Below them Milford Marlins are relegated to Division Two whilst East Leeds and Castleford Lock Lane can still escape the drop.
At the top of Division Two Waterhead and Bradford Dudley Hill will be promoted.
