Easts open new home in style

9/24/2007

Leigh East moved into their new home at the Leigh Sports Village in style defeating previously unbeaten Wigan St. Pats 27-4.

The script couldn't have been written any better . . . a new home venue against top of the table and previously unbeaten opposition, but Easts held their line, not conceding a try against Pats. Not many teams will do that this season.

In the European Challenge Cup, Skirlaugh defeated Bias of France 28-18 with a try and goal four minutes from time. Up until that score the game could have gone either way.

In other NCL league fixtures Easts won the Hull derby, beating Wests 26-6. Leigh Miners defeated Mayfield 46-18, and West Bowling recorded their first victory of the season away at Thornhill by 29-22. That win lifts them off the bottom of the Premier League above Eastmoor Dragons who were beaten by Hull Dockers. In the other game Siddal came from behind to beat Castleford Panthers 36-27.

In the First Division Dudley Hill go a point clear at the top, and in Division Two its neck and neck between Normanton Knights and Millom.
