11/12/2007

East Hull and Leigh Miners Rangers opened up a two point gap at the top of the NCL Premier League over the weekend, with wins over Leigh East and Hull Dockers respectively.

It was a big game for title contenders East Hull and Leigh East, but the Humberside club came out on top by 35-14 with Tommy Brett coming off the bench and scoring a hat-trick of tries.

Leigh Miners beat the Dockers by 39-10 and are a point behind East Hull. Whilst the Dockers are now hovering a point above the drop-zone.

Rochdale Mayfield are proving to be the surprise promotion team as they entertained reigning Champions Skirlaugh and beat them 26-12, and in doing so move into the 6th play-off position.

After a great start Wigan St. Patricks suffered their third defeat on the trot going down 48-16 to Siddal.

In the other games, Castleford Panthers took the honours by 22-10 in the West Yorkshire derby against Thornhill Trojans.

West Hull won yet again - that's 5 in a row now - to overcome Oulton Raiders 20-12, and West Bowling won the "relegation 4-pointer", beating Eastmoor Dragons 40-28.

In Division One Wath Brow Hornets replaced Dudley Hill at the top, and Millom replaced Normanton on points difference at the top of Division Two.
