Drigs Down Wests in Carnegie

Drighlington of the Pennine Premier League claimed the scalp of National Conference League Premier League club West Hull 26-10 in the First Round of the 2010 Carnegie Challenge Cup.

The West Yorkshire side were good value for their win, and West Hull must now concentrate on avoiding releagtion from the NCL Premier League.

There was another shock in West Yorkshire too, when NCL First Division Normanton Knights beat another Premier League side, Wigan St. Patricks by 6-4.

In the BARLA National Cup North West Counties' Wigan St. Cuthberts beat NCL First Division leaders Saddleworth Rangers 22-18; Rylands Sharks (again of the NW Counties League) beat St. Annes (NCL Division Two) 18-19 and Queens (West Yorkshire League) beat Castleford Panthers (NCL Division One) 6-22.

There were only 7 NCL games played because of the two cup competitions, but Ince Rose Bridge hammered another nail in Oulton Raiders relegation fight with a 14-18 victory; And Wath Brow Hornets went to Widnes St.Maries and won 22-42 to jump into second place in the table, 4 points behind Leigh East.
