Champions send out warning
8/27/2007
National Conference League Champions Skirlaugh sent out a warning to the other NCL teams with a 50-6, nine-try demolition of local rivals West Hull last Wednesday evening at The Boulevard. It is the second week in succession that they have scored 50 points and are sending out a clear message that they intend to hold onto their crown.
Three other teams held their 100% records for the season - Leigh Miners, Wigan St. Patricks and newly-promoted Castleford Panthers all have 4 points from their two games. The Panthers in particular have surprised a number of people, and Oulton Raiders were on the wrong end of a 16-6 scoreline last Wednesday night.
The Raiders have yet to register a win, and are joined at the bottom of the table by Hull Dockers, West Bowling and Rochdale Mayfield. All have no points.
There were some high-scoring matches last week. At Twist Lane in the Leigh derby Miners defeated Easts 45-34, Siddal beat West Bowling 58-32 and Thornhill came from behind to overcome Eastmoor 46-12.
The next games are set for midweek next week, before they return to the regular Saturday afternoon format.
