Bad day for NCL leaders

4/1/2007

It was an awful afternoon for the NCL league leaders Leigh Miners on Saturday, when their visitors from East Hull paid them a visit and turned them over by 26-0, returning to Humberside with both points and leaving the Miners shell-shocked.

Second-placed Skirlaugh couldn't capitalise on the Miners defeat, only managing a 17-all draw at Oulton, but that single point was enough to take them to the top of the league on points difference. With West Hull also winning, it means that we have 3 teams on 32 points - Leigh Miners, however, have a game in hand on the other two teams.

Elsewhere Hull Dockers heaped more misery on Wath Brow with a 40-6 victory, and West Bowling lost out to Siddal in injury time by 24-22. A win for Bowling would have given them a huge 5 point gap over the Cumbrians in the relegation zone, as it is Wath Brow have a game in hand and can close to within one point if they win that.
